Basketball Recap: Holy Name Takes a Loss

Holy Name was the 57-28 winner over Villa Angela-St. Joseph when they last played one another back in January of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Holy Name Green Wave took a 58-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Villa Angela-St. Joseph Vikings on Wednesday.

Elizabeth Dunmire was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 32 points and 15 rebounds for Villa Angela-St. Joseph. Dunmire is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last seven games she's played. Sydney Dunmire was another key player, going 5 for 11 on her way to 10 points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Holy Name's loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Villa Angela-St. Joseph, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Holy Name will host Padua Franciscan at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Villa Angela-St. Joseph, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Conneaut at 7:00 p.m. on February 15th.
