Volleyball Recap: Kodiak Takes a Loss

Kodiak was the 1-0 winner over Nikiski when they last played one another back in October of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Bears fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 1-0 on Friday.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Kodiak sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The match finished with set scores of 25-16.

Maggie Hubert paced Kodiak's offense, picking up two kills. Hubert got some help from Fremela Garcia and her three assists.

Kodiak has been struggling recently as they've lost 14 of their last 17 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-19-3 record this season. As for Nikiski, they pushed their record up to 21-8-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Kodiak didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 1-0 defeat against Homer on the 11th. As for Nikiski, they have also already played their next matchup, a 1-0 victory against Monroe Catholic on the 10th.
