Football Game Preview: Wilson Wildcats vs. Spruce Timberwolves + Official Tickets

The Wilson Wildcats will face off against the Spruce Timberwolves at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Wilson has given up an average of 34.8 points per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Thursday, Wilson came up short against Samuell and fell 35-28. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Wilson had strong showings from Reid Kirkland, who threw for 222 yards and three TDs, and Luke Walsh, who picked up 71 receiving yards.

Wilson didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Storee Jackson and Will Holbrook. Another thorn in Samuell's side was Kennedy Shoulders, who made 17 total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Spruce). They took down Adamson 39-22 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Timberwolves.

Wilson better focus on containing Antwone Burns and Zakemon Zakemon as the pair were huge in Spruce's win. Burns rushed for 66 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only nine carries, while Zakemon rushed for 28 yards and one score.

Spruce was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 230 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in four consecutive contests.

Wilson's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Spruce, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 3-5.

Everything came up roses for Wilson against Spruce in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 56-7 win. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Timberwolves turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
