Basketball Recap: Elko Piles Up the Points Against Dayton

Elko won the last time they faced Dayton and things went their way on Saturday too. The Elko Indians breezed past the Dayton Dust Devils to the tune of 49-11.

Elko's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jessica Vera, who went 5 for 9 on her way to 14 points along with five boards and three steals. Vera has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 17 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Lindsey Johns, who posted ten points and three steals.

Despite the loss, Dayton still got an impressive performance from Lisinita Tulimafua-Curran, who had four points and three steals.

Elko's win bumped their record up to 8-11. As for Dayton, they dropped their record down to 1-15 with the defeat, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.

Elko didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 42-22 victory against Spring Creek on the 5th. As for Dayton, they have also already played their next game, a 48-20 loss against Churchill County on the 5th.
