Baseball Recap: Brighton Victorious

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Saturday as neither Brighton nor Skyline made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Bengals walked away with a 6-1 win over the Eagles. The Bengals haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Wilder Strong looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Brighton let Jack Saba and Easton Fry run wild. Saba went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run, while Fry went 1-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base. Fry is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as he's now launched at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Riley Brown, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Brighton's record now sits at 20-3. As for Skyline, with the loss, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-11.

Brighton will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Eagles: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
