Softball Recap: Poland Seminary Wins Going Away Against Mckinley

Poland Seminary never let their opponents score on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over the McKinley Red Dragons. That's two games straight that the Bulldogs have won by exactly 16 runs.

Madison Medvec made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That stolen base was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Poland Seminary got a massive performance out of Kylee Hudran, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one double. That's the most hits Hudran has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Elliana Thompson, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Poland Seminary always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .742. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.

Poland Seminary's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-7. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for McKinley, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-18.
