Basketball Game Preview: Azusa Aztecs vs. Sierra Vista Dons

Azusa is 1-9 against Sierra Vista since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Azusa Aztecs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Sierra Vista Dons at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Thursday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Azusa beat Baldwin Park 39-35.

Meanwhile, Sierra Vista entered their tilt with Duarte on Thursday with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. They took down the Falcons 67-53.

Sierra Vista found their leader in sophomore Ethan Guevara, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 boards. The dominant performance also gave Guevara a new career-high in steals (four). Aaron Buna was another key player, going 5 for 9 on his way to 11 points.

Sierra Vista smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in seven consecutive matchups.

Sierra Vista is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a massive bump to their 15-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.4 points per game. As for Azusa, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-6.
