Soccer Game Preview: Madison Academy vs. Tharptown

For the first time this season, Madison Academy will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Tuesday. They will venture away from home to face off against the Tharptown Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty goal totals in their previous games.

Madison Academy made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Athens, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Madison Academy never let Athens get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory on Saturday. The matchup marked the Mustangs' most dominant win of the season so far.

Their offense was hitting Athens from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Alex Crider led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by himself.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Tharptown). Everything went their way against Clements on Thursday as Tharptown made off with a 9-0 victory. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Colts recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

The victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 16 goals over those five games. As for Tharptown, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

Madison Academy suffered a grim 4-1 defeat to Tharptown in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Madison Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
