Baseball Recap: Gateway Gators vs. Armstrong River Hawks
While Gateway's win against Armstrong wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Gators had just enough and edged out the River Hawks 7-5. While the Gators didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-14-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Myles Beavin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, Gateway let Max Cobbs and Grady Dunsmore run wild. Cobbs scored a run while going 1-for-1, while Dunsmore scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits Dunsmore has posted since back in May of 2024. Jayden Lewis also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Gateway's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Armstrong, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.
Coincidentally, Gateway and Armstrong will both be playing Kiski Area the next time they take the field. The Gators will host the Cavaliers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the River Hawks will head out to face them at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
