Baseball Recap: Westminster Christian Snags Fifth Win in Last Six Games

Westminster Christian put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Thursday. They never let the Schaumburg Christian Conquerors get on the board and left with a 7-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Not much got past Elijah Geu, who gave up just six hits and racked up six Ks to keep Schaumburg Christian off the board. Geu has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single walk in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Sam Dries was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Luke Bartolome, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Westminster Christian is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-12 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Schaumburg Christian, they dropped their record down to 2-11 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westminster Christian will welcome Larkin at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors are facing the Royals at the right time seeing as the Royals are stuck on a 12-game losing streak. As for Schaumburg Christian, they will challenge Christian Liberty at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Chargers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.29 runs per game on average), something the Conquerors will no doubt try to take advantage of.
