Basketball Recap: Lincoln Nelson Key Part of Team Effort in Tigers Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Oxon Hill, Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Potomac Wolverines by a score of 59-49. For the Tigers, this counts as revenge for the 64-60 win the Wolverines walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lincoln Nelson, who posted 17 points. Nelson has become a key player for Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South: the team is undefeated when he posts at least 15 points, but 2-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Exton, who put up 11 points in addition to six assists and three steals.

Potomac's loss came despite strong showings from Korie Cobham Jr and Darveon Wiley. Cobham Jr went 7-for-13 on his way to 16 points along with five assists and four steals, while Wiley went 6-for-11 en route to 16 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave Wiley a new career-high in points.

Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-6 record this season. As for Potomac, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-10.

Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 92-49 loss against Douglass on the 6th. As for Potomac, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 54-36 victory against College Park Academy on the 6th.
