Basketball Game Preview: Hastings Tigers vs. Gretna Dragons

The Hastings Tigers will venture away from home to take on the Gretna Dragons at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Last Friday, Hastings came up short against McCook and fell 48-35. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while the Bison are ranked 74th).

Meanwhile, Gretna was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 61-56 to Omaha North. The Dragons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Hastings has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season. As for Gretna, their loss dropped their record down to 5-8.

Hastings came up short against Gretna in their previous meeting back in February of 2019, falling 41-32. Can Hastings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
