Recap: Pleasant Grove Eagles vs. Elk Grove Thundering Herd

It was a good run, but the Pleasant Grove Eagles unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 63-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Elk Grove. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Pleasant Grove has scored all season.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nathan Ruff, who scored nine points along with ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Carson Keplinger, who scored eight points along with three steals.

Even though they lost, Pleasant Grove were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Elk Grove only pulled down eight offensive rebounds.

It was another big night for Vinny Gonzales, who scored 21 points for Elk Grove. The game was Gonzales' fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of KyRee Fultz, who scored 12 points.

Pleasant Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Elk Grove, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-9 record this season.

Pleasant Grove will be playing in front of their home fans against Franklin at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Franklin is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Elk Grove, they will challenge Davis Sr. at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Davis Sr. is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
