Football Recap: Woodstock Comes Up Short

Woodstock entered their game against Creekview on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Wolverines took a 28-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Grizzlies. The Wolverines were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Grizzlies apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Woodstock lost, don't look at Graham Burmeister. Despite the final result, he threw for 182 yards and three TDs, and also rushed for 45 yards.

Alex Penrod continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Creekview, throwing for 187 yards and three touchdowns on only 17 passes, while also rushing for 68 yards and one score. Those 187 passing yards gave Penrod a new career-high.

Woodstock's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-2. As for Creekview, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-3.

Woodstock and Creekview will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Wolverines see the field they'll take on Pope at 7:30 p.m. on October 3. As for Creekview, their break will end when they face Sprayberry at 7:30 p.m. on October 3.
