Baseball Recap: Washington Takes a Loss

Washington has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.94 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Tuesday. They came up short against the Hedgesville Eagles, falling 10-0. The match marked the first time this year in which the Patriots were not able to get on the board.

Washington has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season. As for Hedgesville, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.

Washington and Hedgesville should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps West Virginia Rankings. The Patriots (ranked 14th) will meet Loudoun Valley (ranked 104th) at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Washington 3.9, the Vikings 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Hedgesville will square off against Dominion at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank advantage (16 vs. 228).
