Clayton won the last time they faced Willow Spring, and Khaleil Walters did his part to make sure it happened again. The Clayton Comets came out on top in a nail-biter against the Willow Spring Storm on Saturday, sneaking past 60-58 thanks in part to Walters, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 20 points along with five rebounds and four steals. That's the most steals he has posted since back in December of 2024.
Several Storm players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. The victory was the third in a row for Clayton, bringing their record for this year to 13-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.7 points over those games. As for Willow Spring, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-7.
Looking ahead, Clayton will square off against Corinth Holders at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Clayton is facing Corinth Holders at the right time seeing as Corinth Holders is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Willow Spring, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 54-48 win against Southeast Raleigh on the 10th.
