Baseball Game Preview: Lutheran Lions vs. Santa Fe South Saints

The Lutheran Lions will face off against the Santa Fe South Saints at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Lutheran's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Santa Fe South has been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.

Lutheran is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They took a 17-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sunrise Mountain on Tuesday.

Barrett Grimes and Anthony Misch did some serious damage despite the final result: Grimes scored a run while going 1-for-2, while Misch scored two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Jack Wesolowski, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Santa Fe South fell victim to Saguaro and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 11-0 to the Sabercats. That's two games in a row now that the Saints have lost by exactly 11 runs.

Lutheran's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Santa Fe South, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.

Santa Fe South's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Lutheran has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.4 strikeouts per game.
