Basketball Recap: South Eugene Axe vs. South Medford Panthers
The South Eugene Axe's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a 70-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of South Medford. South Eugene has struggled against the Panthers recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
South Eugene lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Levi Hawes, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds. Hawes hasn't dropped below 15 points for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Trey Saunders, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
South Eugene now has a losing record at 9-10. As for South Medford, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.
South Eugene will be playing at home against the Black Tornado at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully North Medford focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday. As for South Medford, they will head out on the road to take on the Irish at 6:45 p.m. on Friday.
