Softball Recap: Point Arena Gets the Win

Point Arena posted their closest victory since May 3, 2024 on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Tomales Braves 10-8. This was a revenge game for the Pirates: when they faced off against the Braves on Friday, they had to take a 8-3 loss.

Jade Swan made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hattie Piper, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and six RBI. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Serina Azbill was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.

Point Arena lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Point Arena's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Tomales, they moved to 6-3 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.
