Baseball Recap: Thornton Comes Up Short

Thursday just wasn't the day for Thornton's offense. They came up short against the Thornwood Thunderbirds on Thursday, falling 20-0. If the Wildcats were looking for revenge after losing 10-6 to the Thunderbirds when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Jovontae Wade made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with three stolen bases. He has become a key player for Thornton: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-2-1 otherwise.

Thornton's loss dropped their record down to 3-3-1. As for Thornwood, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Coming up, Thornton will be playing at home against Gary West Side at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Thornwood, they will challenge Evergreen Park at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Mustangs will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Thunderbirds surely won't give up without a fight.
