Basketball Game Preview: Pueblo Warriors vs. Amphitheater Panthers

Pueblo has gone 8-2 against Amphitheater recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The two teams will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Pueblo's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five contests.

Pueblo is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 86-28 win over Vista Grande. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 25 points or more this season.

Pueblo got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Sara Galindo out in front who went 12 for 20 on her way to 29 points and five assists. The dominant performance gave Galindo a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of America Cazares, who went 13 of 24 on her way to 30 points and five steals.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Amphitheater faced off against Marana on Thursday. Amphitheater walked away with a 52-42 win over Marana. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

Pueblo's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Amphitheater, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Everything came up roses for Pueblo against Amphitheater in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, as the team secured a 69-38 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Amphitheater's Kayla Tuakalau, who almost dropped a triple-double on 15 points, 12 rebounds, and nine blocks. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Pueblo still be able to contain Tuakalau? There's only one way to find out.
