Softball Recap: Manvel Wins Going Away Against South Houston

Manvel never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 15-0 margin over the South Houston Trojans. Considering the Mavericks have won four contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Mariah Lantz looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, Karsyn Carrier was a standout: she got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Carley Williams was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Manvel always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .958. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Houston only posted an OBP of .200.

Manvel's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for South Houston, their loss was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-8.

Looking ahead, Manvel will welcome Sam Rayburn at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Sam Rayburn has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.18 runs per game on average), something Manvel will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for South Houston, they will challenge Dawson at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
