Baseball Recap: Elkhorn South Takes a Loss

Millard West hit Elkhorn South with a six-run fifth inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Storm fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 6-5. The Storm haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Elkhorn South got a good showing from Devin Meier, who struck out six batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off only two hits. That's the fewest hits Meier has allowed over his last three matches.

At the plate, Markus Gorup was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and three RBI. Tyler Lofdahl was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs.

Elkhorn South's defeat dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Millard West, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-9 record this season.

Elkhorn South didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 9-4 victory against Papillion-LaVista on the 29th. As for Millard West, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 14-4 win against Bellevue East on the 28th.
