Macon County barely beat Trousdale County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Macon County blew past Trousdale County 11-1 on Friday. Considering the Tigers have won six matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Gage Jones was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He has become a key player for Macon County: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-4 otherwise.
In other batting news, Hayden Dean was excellent, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Ty Bilbrey was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Macon County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
The victory (which was Macon County's third in a row) raised their record to 6-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Trousdale County, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Macon County will take on Loudon in a tournament on Thursday. As for Trousdale County, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Westmoreland at 6:00 p.m. on the 31st.
