Basketball Game Preview: Diller-Odell Griffin vs. Johnson-Brock Eagles

The Diller-Odell Griffin will be taking part in a tournament against the Johnson-Brock Eagles at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Diller-Odell is headed into the contest having just posted their biggest win since January 7th on Monday. Everything went their way against Exeter-Milligan/Friend as Diller-Odell made off with a 52-30 victory. The Griffin pushed the score to 47-21 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bobcats cut but never quite recovered from.

It was another big night for Myleigh Weers, who posted 23 points. The game was her sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ashley Duis, who had ten points.

Meanwhile, Johnson-Brock came tearing into Tuesday's match with 17 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Raiders 59-24. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while the Raiders are ranked 209th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Johnson-Brock's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-1. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.2 points per game. As for Diller-Odell, their record now sits at 12-6.

Diller-Odell suffered a grim 60-37 defeat to Johnson-Brock in their previous matchup back in January. Can Diller-Odell avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
