Football Recap: Gibbs Gladiators vs. Hollins Royals
Gibbs was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They fell just short of the Hollins Royals by a score of 15-13. That's two games in a row now that the Gladiators have lost by exactly two points.
Despite the loss, Gibbs saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jordan Calvin threw for 161 yards and a touchdown. The dominant performance also gave Calvin a new career-high in rushing yards (14).
Gibbs' defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Hollins, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-6.
Gibbs will face off against Booker at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Booker knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Gibbs likes a good challenge. As for Hollins, they will welcome Seminole at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Seminole is coming into the contest with four straight wins on the road, so Hollins will have to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
