Adding to the longest winning streak in 2A Patriot this week, Brush beat Sterling 41-0. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Beetdiggers.
Valley fell to Platte Valley 48-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Fort Lupton's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jeff Merritt threw for 245 and 3 touchdowns and Konnor Snider had 110 yards receiving. On the ground Ian McPeek contributed 200 yards. DJ Vurciaga helped Fort Lupton's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 68 yards.
Omar Fierro was a key player and the best on defense this week as Brush beat the Tigers. He recorded 1 fumble.
He was 15-24 with 0 interceptions.
Merritt put up the best numbers in passing as the Blue Devils bested University. Merritt's favorite target this week was Snider, who caught 6 passes for 110 yards.
Fort Lupton's Merritt and Jalen Vasquez have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-11 quarterback Merritt has thrown for 1,515 yards this season, while Vasquez has 38 catches for 620 yards. Jacob Smith from Strasburg leads the league in rushing with 1,173 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Jeff Priestley's team takes on Randy Dreitz's team. The Blue Devils are in fourth place, while the Beetdiggers are in first place.
