It was a good run, but Berkeley unfortunately witnessed the end of their 14-game winning streak on Friday. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Castro Valley Trojans. The Yellowjackets were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Trojans earlier this season, when they won 10-0.

Quinton Hill was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Akanni Owodunni was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Berkeley's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 15-2-1. As for Castro Valley, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 8-9.

Berkeley has already played their next contest, a 6-4 victory against Encinal on the 24th. As for Castro Valley, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 5-4 loss against Bishop O'Dowd on the 22nd.
