Softball Game Preview: Traverse City West Titans vs. Mona Shores Sailors

The Traverse City West Titans will challenge the Mona Shores Sailors at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

Traverse City West came up short against Elk Rapids on Wednesday, falling 16-6. The Titans have struggled against the Elks recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Sydney Fleming was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Mona Shores had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with an 11-6 win over Rockford on April 1st. With that victory, the Sailors brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Jaslene McHenry spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Raelyn Larry, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddy Faught, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI.

The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-4. As for Traverse City West, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
