Volleyball Recap: Sotomayor Find Success

Sotomayor saw some tournament action on Saturday. They skirted past the Long Creek Dragons 2-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the WILDCATS.

Sotomayor found their leader in sophomore Marina Soliz, who had 15 digs and five aces. Those 15 digs set a new season-high mark for Soliz. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoey Aguayo, who had 14 assists and four digs.

Sotomayor was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Sotomayor now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Long Creek, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9.

Sotomayor and Long Creek could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The WILDCATS (ranked 343rd) will meet O'Connor (ranked 43rd) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Long Creek will face off against Reagan at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (794 vs. 54).
