Soccer Game Preview: Argyle vs. Birdville

It'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Argyle face off against the Birdville at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Birdville took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Argyle, who comes in off a win.

Argyle is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They put the hurt on Ryan with a sharp 7-0 win on Tuesday. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 53rd, while the Raiders are ranked 499th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, after soaring to four goals the game before, Birdville was a bit more limited in their matchup on Tuesday. They came up short against Colleyville Heritage, falling 5-0. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Hawks haven't been shut out since back in January.

The victory made it two in a row for Argyle and bumps their season record up to 8-2-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 13 goals over those two contests. As for Birdville, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 10-2.

Argyle came up short against Birdville when the teams last played back in March of 2024, falling 4-2. Can Argyle avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
