Football Recap: Banning Pilots vs. South East Jaguars

Banning had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They breezed past the South East Jaguars to the tune of 44-14. The Pilots not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since September 6, 2024 (when they won 40-10).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Banning to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alonzo Ruiz, who rushed for 44 yards and three TDs. Another pass catcher making a difference was Christopher Cobarruvias, who gained 125 total yards and two touchdowns.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 14 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Cobarruvias, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Banning didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Nathen Grebb led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself.

Banning has already played their next contest, a 41-6 win against Huntington Park on the 28th. As for South East, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 50-0 defeat against Gardena on the 28th.
