Baseball Recap: Alvin Comes Up Short

Alvin had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 9-14 to make it four. They lost 10-0 to the Dobie Longhorns. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Yellowjackets haven't been shut out since back in February.

As for Dobie, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 15-11. The result was nothing new for the Longhorns, who have now won 11 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

For Dobie's part, the team relied heavily on Juelz Martinez, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most hits Martinez has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Willard Joiner III, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Alvin is set to face off against their familiar foe Pasadena Memorial at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Dobie will take on rival Manvel at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
