Football Game Preview: Piedmont Wildcats vs. Putnam City Pirates + Official Tickets

The Piedmont Wildcats are taking a road trip to face off against the Putnam City Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Piedmont will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Piedmont took a 42-point loss the last time they faced off against Stillwater, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wildcats skirted past the Pioneers 17-14.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Putnam City, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They walked away with a 38-25 victory over Southmoore on Friday. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the SaberCats recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Piedmont better keep an eye on Rodgerick Sloan. He was instrumental in Putnam City's win, rushing for 166 yards and a pair of scores. The dominant performance also gave Sloan a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two). Another player making a difference was Schuylar Turnbull, who threw for 161 yards and one touchdown.

Piedmont's record now sits at 7-2. As for Putnam City, their record is now an identical 7-2.

Piedmont was able to grind out a solid victory over Putnam City when the teams last played back in November of 2024, winning 21-14. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Sloan, who rushed for 200 yards while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Wildcats still be able to contain Sloan? There's only one way to find out.
