Recap: Claremore Zebras vs. Del City Eagles
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Claremore Zebras, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. Their rough 34-13 loss to the Eagles on Friday might stick with them for a while. Claremore's defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Braxton Etheridge threw for 153 yards and a touchdown.
Gage Deckard was his top target, picking up 68 receiving yards. On the ground,
Tyson Grimett rushed for 49 yards.
Del City got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was River Warren out in front who threw for 246 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.3 yards per attempt. Warren has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last four times he's played. Del City also got a significant boost from Rodney Fields, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 111 yards.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Claremore to a paltry 191 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Del City's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out six times before it was all said and done. In that department, Ricklan Holmes ii was the leader with three sacks.
Claremore's defeat dropped their record down to 11-2-1. As for Del City, they have yet to lose a game at home this season, leaving them with a 13-0 record.
Claremore does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Del City will head out on the road to face off against Carl Albert at 1:00 p.m. on December 2nd. Carl Albert is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
