Baseball Recap: Saturday's Win Is Denver Christian's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

With a playoff win on the line, Denver Christian rose to the challenge on Saturday. They were the clear victors by an 11-2 margin over the Lyons Lions. Considering the Thunder have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

James Lord was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He has become a key player for Denver Christian: the team is 10-2 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 5-6 otherwise. Lord was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Caleb Stork was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two doubles, and one triple. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Nate Bovasso was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Denver Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lyons only posted a batting average of .136.

Denver Christian is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Lyons, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-14.

As of now, neither Denver Christian nor the Lions have any future games scheduled.
