Softball Recap: Monroe County Drops Season-High Score on Caverna

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Monroe County). They were the clear victors by a 24-9 margin over the Caverna Colonels on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Colonels: they've now won seven in a row.

Jessie Cook was a standout: she scored four runs while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maelee Ford, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.

Monroe County hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in three consecutive matchups.

Monroe County's victory bumped their record up to 2-5-1. As for Caverna, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monroe County will square off against Warren Central at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Monroe County is facing Warren Central at the right time seeing as Warren Central is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Caverna, they will challenge Adair County at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
