League recap: Abbott dominating on the mound for Serra

Central league recap: 5/22/13

Serra's Cory Abbott was the best pitcher in Central this week. He won one game and struck out nine batters.

Pat Britt was the hottest hitter in the league this week, racking up a .500 average with six RBIs. The Conquistadors went 2-0.

Serra's pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing eight hits and four walks to lead the league in both categories.

There were four hitters that batted over .400 in the league this week. The group was paced by Nic Bereaud, who collected five hits in seven at bats for a .714 average.

The Conquistadors' Abbott led the league in strikeouts this week with nine. He's second in the league with 78 total strikeouts.



Abbott led Serra to a win on May 14, as he notched nine strikeouts to beat Coronado, 13-1. He gave up four hits and one run over seven innings of work.

Britt drove in five runners on Tuesday in the Conquistadors' 13-1 victory over the Islanders. He went 3-for-4 and scored two runs.
