Basketball Recap: SIUE East St. Louis Charter Now 7-2 over Last Nine Games

SIUE East St. Louis Charter won the last time they faced Mt. Olive, and Jaylen Wiley did his part to make sure it happened again. The SIUE East St. Louis Charter Cougars blew past the Mt. Olive Wildcats 71-50 on Tuesday thanks to Wiley, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 12 boards. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in assists (seven).

Cardell Ayers was another key player, going 5-for-8 on his way to 12 points and five rebounds. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.

When it comes to explaining why Mt. Olive lost, don't look at David Schoen. Despite the final result, he went 6-for-15 en route to 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Frizzo, who posted ten points.

SIUE East St. Louis Charter has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.8 points over those games. Mt. Olive has been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 14 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-22 record this season.

SIUE East St. Louis Charter does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mt. Olive, they are taking a road trip to challenge Metro-East Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
