Baseball Recap: Rancho Cucamonga Gets the Win

Rancho Cucamonga hadn't done well against Damien recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Cougars sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over the Spartans. This was a revenge game for the Cougars: when they faced off against the Spartans on Tuesday, they had to take a 5-4 loss.

Brock Foulds made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Richie Duran, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Beau Briggs, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Rancho Cucamonga's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 19-9. As for Damien, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-14 record this season.

As of now, neither Rancho Cucamonga nor Damien have any future games scheduled.
