Northwest Cabarrus gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They came out on top against the West Cabarrus Wolverines by a score of 24-17. For the Trojans, this counts as revenge for the 28-21 victory the Wolverines walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2024.

One reason for the win was Northwest Cabarrus' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. In that department, Terren Miranda was the leader with two. He is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last three games he's played dating back to last season. Northwest Cabarrus got some further help from Josiah Mitchell: he picked up a sack and made five total tackles (4.0 for loss).
