Softball Game Preview: Eastside Catholic Crusaders vs. Roosevelt Roughriders

The Eastside Catholic Crusaders will head out to challenge the Roosevelt Roughriders at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Eastside Catholic has given up an average of 9 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Eastside Catholic is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Wednesday. They lost 11-1 to Eastlake. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Crusaders couldn't push the score so high this time.

Eastside Catholic saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maicey Woolston, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Meanwhile, Roosevelt didn't have quite enough to beat Garfield on Tuesday and fell 9-8.

Perrie Ausk put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and eight unearned) runs off eight hits. What's more, she gave up only zero walks, the fewest she's had since back in May of 2024. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one double.

In other batting news, Eva Lacey stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she scored a run while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Samantha Wright, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Roosevelt now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Eastside Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.

Eastside Catholic might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from Roosevelt in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Crusaders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
