Softball Game Preview: Pee Dee Academy Golden Eagles vs. Loris Lions

The Pee Dee Academy Golden Eagles will challenge the Loris Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Loris will be up against a hot Pee Dee Academy team: the squad just extended their winning streak to five. The Golden Eagles were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over South Florence on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Loris, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They blew past Georgetown 10-4 on Thursday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Lions considering their two-run performance the game before.

Bellamie Gore spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Loris let Kenzie McCoy and Haley Spence run wild. McCoy went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs, while Spence scored a run while going 4-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Spence a new career-high in doubles (two). Caitie Black was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

They weren't the only one making solid contact: Loris kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Pee Dee Academy pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Loris, their victory bumped their record up to 9-7-1.

Pee Dee Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Loris in their previous matchup back in March, winning 4-1. Will the Golden Eagles repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
