Volleyball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Westfield

Westfield had already won four in a row and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Milford Scarlet Hawks. For the Bombers, this counts as revenge for the 3-0 win the Scarlet Hawks walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Westfield had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-15, 25-17, 25-21.

Westfield was led to victory by Arlen Messier and Zachary kukharchuk. Messier had eight digs, while KuKharchuK had 13 digs, 12 kills, and three aces. KuKharchuK is on a roll when it comes to kills, as he's now had six or more in each of the last 13 games he's played.

Westfield pushed their record up to 16-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Milford, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westfield will host West Springfield at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Milford, they will welcome Lincoln-Sudbury at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
