Baseball Recap: Hanna's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Hanna lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Edinburg North, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's matchup. Hanna blew past Edinburg North 7-1 on Thursday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Golden Eagles as it put an end to their seven-game losing streak.

Aldo Navarro looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Hanna is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Gene Martinez was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Eduardo Liceaga also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

The victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 5-10. As for Edinburg North, their defeat was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-16.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hanna will venture away from home to square off against San Benito at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. San Benito has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.71 runs per game on average), something Hanna will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Edinburg North, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Edinburg North Cougars take on Economedes Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. They are facing Economedes at the right time seeing as Economedes is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
