Baseball Recap: Boyd-Buchanan Victorious

Boyd-Buchanan got their first taste of in-conference action on Monday and they started things off strong. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The Buccaneers haven't had any issues with the Fighting Irish recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Read Butler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up ten Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Boyd-Buchanan's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 2-1 (and 2-8-1 when he doesn't).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Bo Evans, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aaron Hise, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Boyd-Buchanan's victory bumped their record up to 4-9-1. As for Notre Dame, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Boyd-Buchanan will have a chance to go back-to-back against Notre Dame: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
