Baseball Recap: Lordsburg Comes Up Short

If Lordsburg was feeling good fresh off their 32-18 takedown of Capitan last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mavericks came up short against the Mesilla Valley Christian School SonBlazers on Tuesday, falling 14-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mavericks of the 15-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Lordsburg saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Daniel Scott, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.

Lordsburg's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Mesilla Valley Christian School, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-3.

Looking ahead, Lordsburg will be playing at home against Capitan at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Mesilla Valley Christian School, they will venture away from home to face off against Mescalero Apache at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
