Basketball Game Preview: Gallia Academy Blue Devils vs. Athens Bulldogs

The Gallia Academy Blue Devils will head out to square off against the Athens Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gallia Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Athens likes a good challenge.

Gallia Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They managed a 55-51 victory over Dawson-Bryant.

Meanwhile, Athens didn't have too much trouble with Alexander on Friday as they won 63-48.

Athens' win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-5. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.8 points per game. As for Gallia Academy, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-7 and their overall record up to 4-9.

Gallia Academy took their win against Athens in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 by a conclusive 58-32. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gallia Academy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
