Softball Recap: Everett Alvarez Snags Sixth Win in Last Seven Games

Everett Alvarez gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against the North Salinas Vikings by a score of 7-4. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-1 on April 7th.

Dani Amendola spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on eight hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 19 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lizbeth Ramirez was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Contreras, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one double.

Everett Alvarez is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for North Salinas, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-12.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Everett Alvarez will face off against rival Hollister at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Eagles 3.9, the Haybalers 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, North Salinas is set to challenge their familiar foe Monterey at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
