Preview: McDowell Titans vs. Erwin Warriors
The McDowell Titans will head out on the road to square off against the Erwin Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. McDowell is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road.
McDowell stacked a 12th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Wednesday. They blew past Asheville, posting a 81-35 victory on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win McDowell has posted since December 15, 2023.
McDowell's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kensly Stewart, who scored 17 points. Stewart hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games. Abby Wyatt was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Erwin suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They were dealt a 72-27 defeat at the hands of A.C. Reynolds. While losing is never fun, Erwin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 228th, while A.C. Reynolds is ranked eighth).
McDowell's victory bumped their record up to 13-2. As for Erwin, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.
McDowell was able to grind out a solid victory over Erwin when the teams last played back in February of 2023, winning 44-32. Does McDowell have another victory up their sleeve, or will Erwin turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
